There exists a fair chance that Microsoft is seeking to shuffle things up as it pertains to Windows 10 is sold and distributed among users. Rumors have been plenty in this aspect.
Even company executives are now in a change.
Kevin Turner discussed Windows 10 pricing alternatives though with a great deal of ambiguity. The Microsoft COO was learning to do new things, and do them otherwise and explained the company has to be creative.
Clear hints at the truth that operating systems are actually either more or less, or free, given away.
Clear steers that Redmond will need to drop the traditional pricing model.
This is what Turner said, actually:
"We have got to monetize it differently. And there are services entailed. There are additional chances for us do the product and to bring additional services to it in a creative way. And through the duration of the summer and spring we'll be announcing what that business model looks like."
Little touches of a subscription based model but there's more:
"Finding new ways to monetize the life of that customer on those devices, again, I would tell Turner we're discovering, we are growing, and we are smarter and shrewder every day."
Clearly, he is not in the liberty to disclose info that is an excessive amount of now, however there is no doubt that Microsoft is at least consideration subscriptions. Or at the minimum, the company is keeping all options in the table.
Perhaps a subscription service may be tabled for many characteristics that were select, while making the remaining portion of the operating system free for people to install and use?
You never understand!
What is your take on this? Do remark.
